An act tragic
A community devastated
A people enraged
A world aghast
The blame to emerge
Calls for heads and rivers of blood
To flow.
A declaration brash
A retaliation swift
A people hated
A world in turmoil
The tide of lead and fire
Unhindered by thought or trappings civilized
Returned.
A mob incensed
A gathering rebellious
A leader resolute
An answer demanded
The future more uncertain
One dares to speak a contrary word:
Forgive.
A man crucified.
About This Poem
This one is fairly obvious. If Jesus ever came back, we wouldn’t let him hang around very long.
